Welcome to our page!
We are located in Sherman, TX just 60 miles north of Dallas. We offer traditional southern soul food menu selections ranging from fried chicken, greens, and cornbread to chitlins and butter chess pies - all homemade. Whether you prefer to dine in our take home we've got you covered. Our food promises to be delicious and so good you'll wanna SLAP YO' MOMMA too, or atleast borrow our momma :-)
The owners, Roy and Audrey Holloway, had a vision to create a small family establishment that catered to people who wanted good food made from scratch and prepared daily. The answer was simple. Open a restaurant at 900 North Broughton that would offer a great selection of specials. Many people wondered why they chose the name "SLAP YO' MOMMA", but for them the title fit perfectly. The origin of this phrase traces its roots to the southern states of the U.S. When first coined it meant someone had just tasted something so delectible it caused them to be angry towards their mother for never creating food equally as tasty... angry enough to slap her. A comical reference to most who hear it. We obviously love, respect, and ADORE all mothers and fathers who are raising productive citizens of tomorrow! Come by for a visit and see what we mean!
